Grandblue Nanhai Solid Waste Treatment and Environmental Protection Industrial Park Launches External Heat Supply Service

Nanhai District in Foshan City has recently launched its first green pipeline steam heating project (hereinafter referred to as the “Green Heat Supply Project”). Built and operated by Grandblue, Phase I of the project is expected to supply 75 tons of steam per hour and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 25,000 tons annually.


The Grandblue Nanhai Solid Waste Treatment and Environmental Protection Industrial Park is located in Shishan Town, Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. Adjacent to Songxia Industrial Park, the area hosts a concentration of enterprises in food processing, new energy, and other industries with significant heat demand. The industrial park processes 4,500 tons of domestic waste each day, generating substantial volumes of high-temperature steam during the power generation process. The Green Heat Supply Project captures and repurposes waste heat generated from waste-to-energy incineration through a network of high-efficiency, thermally insulated steam pipelines. By replacing conventional fossil fuel-based heating, the project enables cascaded energy utilization and promotes a circular approach to resource use.


The project’s heat supply pipeline is designed with a capacity of 120 tons per hour, with Phase I capable of supplying up to 75 tons per hour, which is sufficient to meet the annual steam demand of approximately 143,000 tons from the neighboring Songxia Industrial Park. Preliminary estimates indicate that Phase I alone will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 25,000 tons per year, while also lowering emissions of atmospheric pollutants such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, generating significant environmental benefits.


Phase I’s first section is already supplying steam to Guangdong Yanjing Beer Co., Ltd. within Songxia Industrial Park, where it is used in production processes such as saccharification, wort boiling, and packaging sterilization. The company’s peak instantaneous steam demand is approximately 25 tons per hour, with an annual steam requirement of around 33,000 tons.


With pipeline steam now in operation, the company no longer needs to run its own gas-fired boilers, reducing fuel costs as well as expenses related to boiler equipment management and maintenance. The head of Guangdong Yanjing Beer Co., Ltd. noted that the green heat supply has not only lowered production costs but also enhanced the company’s environmental profile and market competitiveness.


Going forward, the project will be progressively expanded to serve more heat-consuming enterprises within and around the park. This will create a win-win outcome, enabling more efficient thermal energy utilization at the Nanhai Solid Waste Treatment and Environmental Protection Industrial Park while helping nearby enterprises reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. In doing so, the project will also help accelerate the region’s transition toward green and low-carbon development. As an innovative initiative supporting Nanhai’s efforts to develop a circular economy, the Green Heat Supply Project connects the industrial chain from waste incineration to energy recovery and industrial utilization. In doing so, it helps establish an industrial ecosystem based on shared resources and jointly developed infrastructure.


Using waste-to-energy projects to provide heat supply services is an effective way to support the national carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals while achieving meaningful energy savings and emissions reductions. In recent years, Grandblue has leveraged the heat source advantages and strategic locations of its domestic waste incineration power generation projects to actively explore a range of heat supply models, including pipeline, mobile, and hybrid pipeline-plus-mobile configurations. As of October 2025, Grandblue had signed external heat supply agreements for 30 waste-to-energy projects, of which 22 are already supplying heat to external users, contributing to green transition and sustainable development across the country.
